Documenting the 2024 Solar Eclipse

Hello there,

Did you snag one of the special Solar Eclipse acrylic sets Jessica created to celebrate the April event? I really liked the set and as soon as I received it, I got to work creating the project I am sharing with you today. It’s a single 12x12 page layout that will go in an album that is almost full. I put 12x12 pages in the album I am currently filling in no particular order. I enjoy paging through these albums and seeing the variety of stories. Now let’s get into the details of my design.

I started with a hand stitched circle on white cardstock then placed several layers in the circle including tissue paper, a white hand stitched cardstock circle, and black cardstock circle representing the eclipse.

Next, I placed my foundation piece on a 12x12 marbled paper from my stash and added the solar eclipse set to my layout. I backed my photos with patterned paper and foam tape to give my photos a little depth before adhering them to my layout. I added the time of day to my eclipse photos with clear matte label sticker paper and finally my journaling blocks.

I really like the simplicity of this layout and the ability it gave me to add multiple photos. I had such a great time with my husband and watching the solar eclipse from the Ford house made for a truly a beautiful backdrop in many of the photos. I will be adding more of them to my stories album to commemorate this special day!
