Best Friends Forever

Hello CCD fans,

I’m sharing a new project today that is of course, documenting a story about a couple of my pups. This 12x12 layout features an add-on acrylic phrase released with the July kits. When I saw this item, I knew I had the perfect photo and paper collection to document the friendship between my heart dog Lucky Ducky and my garden princess Haley.

I chose several 12x12 papers from Discover and Create by Vicki Boutin, one for the background and the other filled with flowers I fussy cut. Next, I hand stitched around the embroidery hoop on my background paper and worked in a few sections of cross-stitching inside the hoop. I avoided placing random cross-stitches in the bottom right corner of the hoop because I knew that is where I wanted to place my journaling.

I added texture to the centers of the fussy cut flowers with DMC floss colors that coordinated with my color palette. And then I chose a couple of papers from the Discover and Create 6x8 paper pad and used them to back my photo, which is popped up with foam. Next, I worked with the flowers and my title, ‘best of friends’ until I was happy with their placement. I popped up the flowers at different heights to add a bit more interest. The final addition is my journaling printed on clear matte sticker paper.

I have been in a big crafting rut lately and found inspiration for this layout in the papaya-colored title and the colors of the paper collection. So pleased with how it turned out and looking at it truly makes my heart happy!
