Autumn Breezes with Robin Adryan
Hello CCD friends,
I’m back with another spread in my special October mini album. This project is a mix of the September and October shop releases including the “Autumn Breezes” acrylic. My project is the final layout in the series with this popular kit item. Let’s get into all the details!
I chose the acrylic title because it’s one of the things I love about this season. As I thought about how I wanted to set up my layout, I realized this would be a good jumping off point for a list of the reasons I love this time of year.
Most of my layouts up to this point include pockets and tags for my journaling so I decided to do something a little different and put my journaling on a velum page in the middle of my spread.
One of the great things about mini albums is the small space which allows for a story focus and simple design. When your canvas is small, it’s important not to overwhelm your layout with lots of embellishments.
I created texture and interest with edging for the left and right side of the double-page spread by layering paper with wood veneer leaves from the October kit. Then I added my photo and the “Autumn Breezes” acrylic phrase. The final additions to my spread were a bit of stitching on the page turner for my journaling and hole reinforcers in the main color of my photo page. Using this color helps to draw the eye across the spread. Repeating this color on the opposite page edge is another way to draw the viewer in when the velum journaling is removed.
One final note, the leaves on the bottom left edge look as though they are not level, but this is an optical illusion. I didn’t notice this until after I photographed my project.
