Good Stuff Right Here!

Hello friends,

Today I am sharing a new layout in my 2024 story album featuring one of the acrylic items from our March kit. I love the positive vibe the “good stuff right here” title adds to the story that inspired this project. And I created all the shapes used in this project with dies and a stencil.

I chose the Pet Shoppe Dog paper collection from Simple Stories for this spread. In addition, I used a hexagon die set and a tag die to create the design elements with paper from the collection. A hexagon stencil with some Tim Holtz Distriess Oxide Ink in Lost Shadow was used to add interest around the large hexagon photo of Brock. He is one of our foster pups from a Detroit shelter and is approximately 8 years old, quite shy and sweet.

I used creamy borders around some of the hexagons, including Brock’s photo, to add interest. The hexagons are popped up using multiple layers of cardstock cut from the dies. I also used foam dots to pop up the hearts to match the height of the foam sub-title next to Brock. Here’s a close up of the hexagons, stenciling and photo.

I placed my acrylic title on a tag cut from the die and turned the tag into a flip up to hold an extra photo of Brock from our impromptu backyard photo shoot. I also included a quote that portrays my perspective about my pups.

And here’s a photo of the full two page spread. I used a pocket page for the left side and a full “out of the pocket” page on the right. The full page includes a washi tape border on the far-right side of the page to help with turning the page and to protect the paper. I added a little more texture with a bit of stitching and enamel dots. The bow on my flip up tag was made with a double strand of crochet thread.

I hope you enjoyed walking through my project and that you are inspired to use shapes to create your own unique patterns and design.
