Documenting Military Service with the CCD May Release
Hello friends,
Today I am sharing several layouts from a 6x8 album I am using to documenting my military service. I chose a custom album and the American Crafts Flags and Frills paper collection as the foundation for my stories. If you are wondering why I chose Flags and Frills, it’s because the collection includes flowery papers and pieces in the red, white and blue with a touch of pink color theme. Many of my spreads include items from my CCD stash and the June acrylic kit. There will only be a few photos, but lots of journaling as I belong to a few Facebook groups that include people I served with. In fact, some of the photos in my album were taken by the amazing humans I served with.
Let’s begin with the title page for my album. I spent a lot of time, full disclosure, days experimenting and thinking about it. Ultimately, I wanted it to be feminine and include a title that wasn’t only a reference to my branch of service.
I chose the ‘my story’ wood veneer from my CCD stash and added the USN in red, white and blue puffy alphas along with a flag with flowers and a scalloped edge for that female touch.
The first layout in my album is about the adventurous perspective I had on signing up. There are very few photos of me and my siblings growing up. I chose the photo of a photo I know is from my teenage years but it’s not dated. The 4x6 title pocket contains a flip-up for more personal journaling.
This layout will be followed by boot camp stories that include items from past and future shop releases and more of the lovely Flags and Frills paper collection.
I hope you enjoyed this look into the first chapter of my military service album. I will be more layouts as I progress through documenting my time in service.
